Alexander Likhotal was born in Russia in 1950. He holds a PhD in Political Science and History from Moscow Institute of International Relations. In 1991 he was appointed Deputy Spokesman and Adviser to the President of the USSR.








Sander Mallien

Sander MallienSander Mallien is one of the most respected Swiss business leaders. After working for over 20 years in the international arena, he is recognized as an authority on Capital Markets and Corporate Governance. The Zurich-born entrepreneur currently holds mandates on a number of boards of important corporations, organisations and philanthropic foundations. Previously he held significant executive roles at Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank.

In and through his professional engagements in the Finance, Insurance/Reinsurance, Energy, Raw Materials and Telecommunications industries, Sander Mallien calls for social transformation towards sustainable development. "If human civilisation is to survive, this decade must be a time of transformation. We need a different approach towards both the natural world, and each other. This planet is the only home we will ever have and thus preserving it is our responsibility to the millions of other species that share this home with us, and the future generations for whom we hold it in trust."






Mohan Munasinghe

Mohan MunasingheSri Lankan born Prof. Mohan Munasinghe shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, as Vice Chair of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has postgraduate degrees in physics, engineering and economics, from Cambridge University (UK), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), McGill University (Canada), and Concordia University (Canada); as well as several honorary doctorates (honoris causa). Presently, he is Chairman, Munasinghe Institute of Development (MIND); Director-General, Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI), University of Manchester, UK; and Honorary Senior Advisor to the Govt. of Sri Lanka.

Highlights of over 35 years of distinguished public service include working as the Senior Energy Advisor to the President of Sri Lanka (1982-87), and Advisor to the US President's Council on Environmental Quality (1990-92). Until 2002, he served in the World Bank as a Senior Manager and Senior Advisor on Sustainable Development.






Mario Soares

MS

Mario Soares was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1932. A lawyer by trade, he co-founded the Portuguese Socialist Party and was Secretary-General for 13 years since its inception. Mario Soares eventually became President of Portugal for three terms until his retirement in 1996.

Shoo Iwasaki is the founding president of Green Cross Japan. He is a former Nishi Nippon Broadcasting Corp. announcer and a graduate of Chuo University in Japan. He also holds honorary degrees from Kyonggi University in South Korea and from Emerson College in the US.











Scott Seydel


seydelScott Seydel is the chief executive of several process chemical companies, where sustainability and environmental stewardship are the cornerstone through an emphasis on energy and waste minimization, and recycling. As the Chairman of the Board of Global Green USA, Scott has been involved in guiding the organisation's initiatives in promoting commercial and residential green building projects, renewable resource power generation, water conservation, municipal waste recycling, and the decommissioning of military bases and weapons of mass destruction.

Scott is also the Chairman of the Board of GreenBlue in Charlottesville, Virginia, home to the Sustainable Packaging Coalition as well as Chairman of the Georgia State's Robinson College Board and has chaired the boards of the Atlanta YMCA, the Georgia Hi-Tech Alliance, the Georgia World Congress Institute and the Atlanta Chamber's International Committee during the 1996 Olympic Games. He is also an active contributor of articles and technical reviews for the trade press, and a frequent guest speaker on environmental conservation and global sustainability at industry conferences, seminars, and universities.
